Are ISOtunes headphones noise cancelling?

ISOtunes earbuds and earmuffs are passive noise isolating hearing protectors, which means that they block noise with a physical barrier (earplug or earmuff) at all times, whether the product is turned on or off. They reduce the sound of your environmental noise according to the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR), but they do not cancel all sound. ISOtunes earbuds and earmuffs protect your hearing while allowing you to hear what is going on around you.

How should I clean my ISOtunes product?

Wipe down your ISOtunes product daily after use with a soft cloth and some isopropyl alcohol to remove oils or residue. Alcohol should not be used to clean eartips.

How do I clean and change out my eartips?

To clean your TRILOGY Foam eartips you will need water and a soft cloth. Do not use alcohol or detergents. Dampen the cloth and gently clean the eartips, then let them dry completely.

How often should I change my TRILOGY foam eartips?

For regular users, we suggest replacing each pair of eartips every 1 to 3 months.

How often should I change my ear cushions?

For regular users, we recommend replacing ear cushions, fabric lining, and foam inserts every 3 to 9 months depending on the frequency of use.

My earmuffs fit tightly — is that normal?

Yes. In order to provide the promised hearing protection and best sound quality, the earmuffs should fit snugly.

Do you offer an XL earmuff and cushion?

Our earmuffs are one-size fits most (S-L).

How do I extend my earmuff headband?

My eartips keep falling out — what should I do?

Wearing the correct size eartips guarantees the best noise reduction and superior sound quality. For optimal hearing protection, make sure you are inserting your eartips correctly, wearing the right-sized eartips, and replacing your eartips on a regular basis. Does the warranty reset when you get a replacement?

No. The warranty does not reset with the replacement. The warranty starts from the original purchase date.

How does the warranty work on a replacement?

If the customer is entitled to a replacement product, ISOtunes will provide a product that is identical. If an identical replacement is not available, ISOtunes will replace the item with a similar model of equal value.

What cancels a warranty?

A warranty is cancelled if the warranty period has expired, if the product failure is due to misuse, lack of proper care or loss, or if there are unauthorized alterations to the product.

What does out of warranty replacement mean?

Out-of-Warranty means the warranty period has expired and ISOtunes has no obligation to replace defective components or parts.

Can I return my ISOtunes product for a refund?

If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase from ISOtunes, you can return your item for a full refund within 30 days of the original purchase date. Only items purchased directly through an ISOtunes online store are eligible. ISOtunes covers return shipping for defective, damaged, or incorrect products. What is the ISOtunes Return for Refund Policy?

Items must be purchased from an ISOtunes online store, returned within 30 days of the delivered date, returned in a re-sellable condition, and returned in the original packaging with all components.

What is a Noise Reduction Rating?

A Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) measures the amount of hearing protection or attenuation provided by different hearing protectors. Measured in decibels (dB), the NRR must be determined in a lab and approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in accordance with OSHA. ISOtunes products use industrial grade memory foam to block 22-29 dB of damaging noise.

What certifications do ISOtunes products meet?

ISOtunes products are tested and approved in accordance with ANSI S3.19-1974 specifications. ISOtunes SafeMax Technology ensures maximum volume output of 85 dB, meeting OSHA and NIOSH requirements for use as hearing protectors in the workplace. All ISOtunes products are also tested to IEC standard 60529 for International Protection Markings covering protection against dust, accidental contact, and water.

Are there any environments where it is not safe to use ISOtunes products?

All ISOtunes products are certified hearing protection devices designed to protect wearers in loud environments. In use cases where situational awareness is essential, ISOtunes recommends using active hearing protectors with ambient listening capabilities, indicated by Aware Technology or Tactical Sound Control. The user is solely responsible for ensuring any ISOtunes product is used safely.

Are ISOtunes products approved for use in my workplace?

All ISOtunes products are tested in NVLAP labs to ANSI and EPA hearing protection standards and are OSHA compliant for a full day of use in the workplace. Each workplace may have its own specific rules on hearing protection. If you are unsure, ask your manager or company Safety Official. Is static or white noise normal with Aware Technology products?

It depends. Aware Technology amplifies outside noises through omni-directional microphones, and static or white noise may be the result of magnifying sounds from your surroundings — this is considered normal. Test the product with Aware Technology turned off. If you still hear static noise, this is considered a product defect and you should contact customer service.

When should I use Aware Technology?

Aware Technology is great for communicating in sporadically loud environments. It blocks loud impulse noises like nail guns and hammers while amplifying safe environmental sounds. It is not well suited for consistently loud environments above 85dB, where it will passively block all outside sound. In consistently loud environments, we recommend turning Aware Technology off.

What is the difference between Aware Technology and Tactical Sound Control?

ISOtunes Aware Technology and ISOtunes Sport Tactical Sound Control are both developed to handle loud impulse noises and maintain situational awareness without risking hearing loss. Aware Technology is designed for woodworking, construction, lawn care, and industrial spaces. Tactical Sound Control is designed for ranges and outdoor hobbyists. The products vary in color and name but provide the same hearing protection experience.

What is Tactical Sound Control? Can it be turned on/off?

TSC is a level-dependent technology that uses omni-directional microphones to allow safe sounds to actively pass through the product while blocking harmful gunshot noise. TSC volume can be turned up, down, or off from the control module.

Can you use Bluetooth while using TSC? Do you have to use Bluetooth to be protected?

You can use both Bluetooth and TSC at the same time. Heat activated polyurethane foam ear tips block 26dB of noise so your hearing is always protected, even if you are not connected to Bluetooth.

Are Bluetooth and ambient sound both stereo (coming through both ears)?

Yes, Bluetooth and TSC volume for the ADVANCE BT 2.0 come through both earbuds. The headphones are designed with separate left and right microphone channels to the corresponding ear to give you spatial and directional awareness.

How do I get the best fit from the foam earplugs?

Properly inserting your eartips provides better noise reduction and superior sound quality: Compress the foam eartip for 5 sec, pull up on your ear to open your ear canal, insert the plug into your ear and hold for 15 sec while the foam expands.

Are the silicone eartips the same for hearing protection?

The eartips that come with ISOtunes Sport earbuds have been tested for a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR). The ADVANCE BT 2.0 has a NRR of 26 dB while using the foam eartips or a NRR of 25 dB while using the triple flange silicone eartips.
