How to use ISOtunes

At ISOtunes, we may be a global company, but we’re also a small, family-owned business based in America’s heartland. Our success has come from building the industry’s best hearing protection products and treating our customers like family. We are pleased to welcome you to the ISOtunes family!

ISOtunes products are designed, tested, and certified for hearing protection. That means getting a proper fit is essential for the product to do what it’s supposed to do: block noise.

How do I fit my ISOtunes Earmuffs?

  • Place the headband over your head, ensuring it rests comfortably at the top of your head. Adjust the band so that it feels secure but not tight.

  • Gently pull the ear cups down to cover your ears completely. The ear pads should fully enclose your ears without gaps.

  • Ensure the ear cups create a snug seal around your ears to maximize noise reduction. If there’s any discomfort or loose fit, adjust the headband or cups until you find the most comfortable position.

How do I Fit my ISOtunes Earbuds?

  • Choose the ear tips that provide the best seal and comfort. Each ISOtunes product comes with multiple sizes of foam eartips; pick the one that fits snugly in your ear canal without feeling too tight or uncomfortable.

  • Note that the cores of the eartips are threaded to match the stems of the earbuds. This is because ISOtunes earplug eartips screw onto the stems of the earbuds, a safety feature that ensures the eartips do not fall off or get stuck in your ear canal. Do not pull or force the eartips off the ear stems – this can strip the cores and compromise the secure connection between the eartips and stems.

  • Once the proper size eartips have been selected and installed on the earbud stems, compress the foam pieces by squeezing or rolling them between your fingers. Then, insert the earbuds into your ears by guiding the compressed foam eartips into your ear canal. Hold the earbuds in place while the foam eartips expand to fill your ear canals. This physical foam barrier is the mechanism that provides attenuation, or protection, from harmful environmental noise.

How do I power on my device?

  • Press and hold the Multi-Function Button (MFB) for 3 seconds until you hear “Power On.” The LED indicator on the product will flash red and blue, signaling the product is in pairing mode.

  • Enable Bluetooth on Your Device

    • Open the Bluetooth settings on your smartphone, tablet, computer, or radio.

    • Look for “ISOtunes [Model Name]” in the list of available devices and tap to connect.

  • Confirmation

    • Once connected, you will hear “Bluetooth Connected” through the speakers of your ISOtunes device. The LED indicator light will also flash blue to confirm the connection.

What if my ISOtunes product isn’t charging?

  • Check the Charging Cable and Port:

    • Ensure the charging cable is securely plugged into both your ISOtunes and the power source.

    • Inspect the charging port on your ISOtunes and the charging cable for any debris or damage. Clean gently if needed.

    • If the issue continues, the charging cable itself may be faulty. Try using a different cable to see if your ISOtunes product will charge.

  • Verify Power Source:

    • Confirm the power source (e.g., wall adapter, computer, or power bank) is working properly. Try using a different outlet or USB port to rule out a power issue.

  • Reset your ISOtunes Device:

    • If the charging issue persists, try resetting your ISOtunes. Follow the reset procedure outlined in your user manual to restart the device and attempt charging again.

  • Contact Support:

    • If none of the above steps work, reach out to ISOtunes customer support for further troubleshooting or warranty assistance. ISOtunes customer support is available by phone at (844) 396-3737 from M-F 9-5 and by email at support@isotunes.com.

What is SafeMax hearing protection?

  • Unlike other headphone companies, ISOtunes® is committed to your safety, which means not just protecting your ears from outside noise, but also from the noise created by our headphones. This ensures you will be able to appreciate the sounds of the world around you for years to come.

  • Our ISOtunes® products utilize our signature SafeMax™ Technology to limit the audio volume output to 79-90 decibels (depending on the model), to comply with local hearing conservation standards. Generally speaking, our standard ISOtunes models are limited to 85 db while our Sport models are limited to 90 db. EN 352-Certified and Listen Only products are limited to 79 dB to comply with stricter workplace standards. If you are not working in an environment with hearing conservation standards, we recommend the Sport models, which will provide more volume while still keeping your ears safe.

Bluetooth hearing protection tips

  • Make the most of your Bluetooth Hearing Protection with the following tips:

    • Secure Fit: Ensure a snug fit to maximize noise reduction and sound quality.

    • Pairing: Follow pairing instructions and keep your devices within a 30-foot range.

    • Volume Limits: If you are working in an industrial environment that requires compliance with hearing conservation standards, make sure you look for brands like ISOtunes that offer volume-limiting technology built into the products.

    • Communication: Built-in microphones will allow for hands-free communication in noisy environments.

    • Situational Awareness: If situational awareness is essential for your safety, we recommend shopping ISOtunes products with Aware Technology or Tactical Sound Control, which enable ambient listening while keeping your ears protected.

  • Earplug-style Bluetooth headphones

    • ISOtunes earbuds utilize adapted earplug styles and materials (i.e. foam or silicone) as eartips to provide you with proper hearing protection. To work effectively, the earplug eartip must be inserted into your ear canal to create a physical barrier between your ear drum and the noise of the world around you. A hole in the center of the eartip will, however, enable sound from the earphone to pass through the eartip into your ear. This makes it possible to hear audio and communicate while maintaining protection against harmful environmental noise.

Cleaning, Care & Maintenance Tips

  • Daily cleaning recommendations

    • We recommend cleaning your eartips periodically as dirt and wax build-up can impair their ability to compress and expand, thereby compromising your protection. The eartips can be cleaned simply with a wet paper towel (water).

  • Are ISOtunes waterproof or sweatproof?

    • All ISOtunes products are tested to Ingress Protection (IP) standards for resistance to moisture and dust. Be sure to check each product’s IP rating to know the level of protection offered.

  • When and how to replace ear tips

    • If you are using your earbuds daily, we recommend replacing the eartips every 2 to 3 months. The best way to tell if your eartips need replacing is by the “rebound time” after they are compressed. The heat-activated foam should take at least 5 seconds to rebound to its original shape once compressed. If the foam is rebounding faster than that, it will be less effective at blocking noise (and probably less comfortable). If you are a heavy user of ISOtunes earbuds, you may consider signing up for our Subscribe & Save program, which allows you to save 20% on replacement eartips by signing up for regular shipments every 3, 6, or 9 months.

  • Long-term storage and safety tips

    • For optimal performance and longevity, store your ISOtunes product at room temperature indoors. All ISOtunes earbuds also come with a protective travel case as well, for protection on the go. Protective cases for earmuffs are available to purchase for some models.
